Shane Wilson 1030 West 9th Street, Mesa   85201
The Meditation Learning Center has lots of activities going on at different times. There are Buddhist classes, there are periods of meditation, there are social gatherings, there are weekly satsangs, and The Meditation Learning Center puts on retreats with some regularity. It's a good idea to check the website to learn what is currently available.

Phoenix Vipassana is an umbrella group for several vipassana meditation groups in the valley. Each of the sitting groups is largely independent but maintain their schedule and news on the Phoenix Vipassana Meetup site. Vipassana groups in Phoenix are generally not held in dedicated centers or temples (with the exception of the meditation classes conducted by Shane Wilson at the Sri Lankan Arizona International Buddhist Meditation Center), but in people's homes or rented or donated spaces. Unless you regularly attrend a group, and are 'in the loop', it is always a good idea to check the meetup site to confirm that the group is meeting on the day you plan to attend.

Open 12 hours every day, the main prayer hall (sala) is available to the public for prayer and meditation.   This temple seems to function more as a Theravadan monastery primarily for Thai monks, but also Laotian, Vietnamese and Cambodian Buddhists.   It also serves as a community center,   The Wat annually hosts eight major Theravadin Buddhist festivals.

This is the temple that was stunned by the massacre of six monks, a nun and two other temple affiliates in 1991 (a tragedy that remains Arizona's largest mass murder).

Wat Buddhametta is both a temple and monastery. It provides a place of residence for the monastic community in Tucson, as well as a meeting place for laypeople, and facilities for the observance of Buddhist religious practices according to the Theravada tradition. Members, students, and individuals interested in Buddhist religion and practice can join us for classes, ceremonies, meditation, and community services. Training is also provided for persons aspiring to join the monastic community. We offer community services including Buddhist meditation, birth blessings, Thai Buddhist weddings, funeral services, and memorial services. It's useful to look at Tucson Community Meditation Center's event calendar to know what is happening. For example, on most Sunday's they have 3 consecutive half hour sits, beginning at 8:30 AM. Some Sunday's the have only 2, and some they don't have any. On Monday nights they have Class Practice at 6:30. On Tuesday nights at 6:30 they have classes that seem to change - but always a class. The class subject usually seems to last for several weeks. They also have Wednesday evening and Thursday evening activities. It looks like they have Friday morning sits beginning at 6:30 something over half the time.

The Tucson Community Meditation Center (TCMC), a non-sectarian organization, has been teaching and supporting the practice of mindfulness meditation in Tucson for over twenty years. TCMC is unaffiliated with any religion.
